This year for Mothers Day at Simmons Fine Jewelry we are featuring a very exceptional contest for that very special lady, Mom. Follow Simmons Fine Jewelry on Instagram, post a photo of you with your mother using #CelebrateMom and you will have a chance to win a very stunning Classic Chain Bracelet by designer John Hardy. The winner will be announced on Friday, May 8. The winner must be able to claim the prize at our Meridian, Idaho Showroom.

There are many other wonderful aspects of Mothers Day as well. Did you know, for example, that Mothers Day is the most popular day of the year for long-distance phone calls? Keep calling that mother of yours! Make her feel as special as she really is.

Mothers Day is also celebrated all around the world. Not always on the same day, however. Here in the United States, Mothers Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May. But our good friends in the United Kingdom celebrate their “Mothering Sunday” on the fourth Sunday of Lent.

Anna Jarvis of Grafton, West Virginia, started Mothers Day in this country. She wanted for there to be a day in which all mothers were celebrated, which was her mother’s dream. The dream became official in 1914, when President Woodrow Wilson honored mothers everywhere and made the day an official national holiday.
